Sheila and Jim

Sheila and Jim got married on a bright, sunny, summer day. The weather was perfect with a slight breeze, so the bride, groom, the bridal party, the guests and the photographers too, were not going to bake in the sun.

But, as usual, we started our day well before the ceremony with the bride. Sheila had a room at the Whitney Peak Hotel in downtown Reno, where she and her bridesmaids were going to get ready for her wedding and I can’t think of a nicer hotel in Reno for that.

They don’t have any gaming at the Whitney Peak, but they have a fantastic, to die for restaurant and gorgeous rooms.

In the above photo, Sheila’s getting her hair done and it looks like she’s getting coifed high in the sky. Okay, she’s got a room on the ninth floor, so she is high up, but the view behind her isn’t coming from any window.

Yep, it’s a wallpaper view. But it’s quite clever, because the view is what you’d see if you looked out the window.

Sheila had her hair done around 10:00 and that’s a good time for a 5:00 wedding. Some brides might be afraid they’d ruin their hair, like if maybe they wanted a short nap, but when you think about how nervous most brides are, a nap really isn’t in the cards and if you get it done early, you can go on to your makeup, while the stylist is starting on your bridesmaids.

Also, we believe it’s a good idea for the bride to have her hair done first. That way, if something happens and you start to run late, the stylist doesn’t have to rush on the bride’s hair. It’s her day, getting her hair done should be a pleasing and pleasant experience.

This is Maria, who doubled as both daughter of the bride and the maid of honor. That’s pretty neat. And it gets neater still, because one of Jim’s son’s was best man. How cool is that? Answer, way cool.

Later on, during the reception, Maria wanted to know if we could take a selfie together. I thought she meant with her phone, but she meant with my camera, so we did. I held the big camera way from us, pointed it at back at us and pushed the shutter button and I’ll be darned if it didn’t come out just fine. And if you check outt the last photo on Sheile and Jim's third wedding page you'll see it.

Here are Sheila and two of her bridesmaids, smoking on the street. Well, they’re smoking in front of the Whitney Peak, which is a none smoking hotel.

I don’t smoke much anymore, maybe one a month, but some months I skip. So, with only smoking about a dozen cigarettes a year, you know I really enjoy each and every one. I don’t take my monthly smoke lightly. And I couldn’t think of a better group of girls to share my August smoke it with.

Here, Sheila’s bridesmaids are doing a little last minute arranging, before they get in the elevator and ride down to the street and the awaiting limo, which will whisk them to the venue.

Unlike a lot of weddings, Sheila and her girls were done plenty early, so there were no crazy mad women dashing to and fro, wondering how they were going to get everything done and get to the ceremony before everyone got fed up and went home.
